The Environmental Protection Agency recently released its 2009 EPA Fuel Economy Guide, which contains fuel economies for all the new 2009 vehicle models. When you have all the fuel-economy ratings, of course you want to sort out the best and worst. Listed below are the best and worst fuel-economy ratings for trucks, vans, and SUVs. Of all 2009 vehicles on the market, the only truck, van, or SUV to crack the "best" list was the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid and its sister vehicles the Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2WD and Mazda Tribute Hybrid 2WD. Both vehicles rated at 34 mpg for city driving, ranking 4th overall behind the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid, and Nissan Altima Hybrid.
