Hot on the heels of special-edition truck releases from Ford and Dodge, Toyota announced two new Toyota Racing Development packages for the 2009 Toyota Tundra. The TRD Rock Warrior and the TRD Sport Edition will give Tundra buyers fresh options tailored to more specific interests.

The TRD Rock Warrior will be geared toward off-roaders and gets some suspension modifications along with a wealth of special trim. The Rock Warrior package will only be available on V-8 Tundra 4x4s with either the Crew Cab or Double Cab and will feature a tuned suspension, Bilstein shocks and TRD forged alloy wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. On the outside, it features a body-color front bumper and grille surround, a matte-black rear bumper, fog lamps, TRD Rock Warrior graphics on the side and will only be available in Black or Super White. Inside, the interior has been redone in black cloth and features a custom shift knob and pedal covers.

The TRD Sport Edition, on the other hand, will be made for the on-roaders who prefer custom street trucks. The Sport Edition will only come on V-8 Tundra 4x2s and is strictly a cosmetic enhancement package. The Sport Edition features body-colored front and rear bumpers, grille surround, door handles, heated side mirrors, and fog lamps. The TRD Sport Edition also features special side graphics and 20-in. five-spoke alloy wheels and will only come in Black or Radiant Red. Inside, the Sport Edition will be the same as the Rock Warrior, with a black cloth interior, custom shift knob and pedals covers.

No pricing has been released yet for the new packages, but Toyota says that information will be released some time between now and the 2009 Tundra's official launch in November.
