American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. has acquired a contract to produce commercial driveline assemblies for a U.S. heavy-truck manufacturer. The terms of the deal and the manufacturer's identity were not publicly released. The contract will have American Axle manufacture carrier assemblies and gear and then assemble the entire driveline package, with an expected start date sometime next year.

American Axle's Three Rivers, Michigan, plant is expected to be a part of future commercial vehicle programs.
