Chrysler does another "special" PT Cruiser for Woodward Dream Cruise

2009 Chrysler Pt Dream Cruiser Series 5 Front View

Chrysler's PT Cruiser is on its deathbed, but that hasn't stopped Chrysler from producing yet another so-called "special edition" of the vehicle which has become an annual a right of passage in celebration of Detroit's Woodward Dream Cruise classic car love in taking place this weekend.

Called the 2009 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 5 (there's a catchy name) the fourteenth special edition model of the PT Cruiser is, as most have been, an all show, no go exercise.

Here's basically what you get:

-Contrasting two-tone theme with a Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl painted roof and hoop spoiler
-Cross-hatched, upper and lower solid billet aluminum grilles
-New 17-inch SRT Design wheels
-Chromed body-side trim moldings

Pastel Slate Gray interior with chromed ring air vents and gauges on the instrument panel, new "embossed momentum" seat fabric, leather-wrapped steering wheel with silver accents, satin-silver finished gauge cluster with chromed rings, premium floor mats and door-entry sill

And of course, there's the obligatory "PT" front-passenger and driver's-side door badges, which Chrysler says "hammer home PT's individuality, reliability and street cruising credibility." If there's one thing this baby has, its street cruising cred. Ok, maybe not.

You can get your 2009 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 5 in either the standard 2.4-liter version with 150 horsepower mated to a four-speed automatic that manages 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, or with the peppy, 180-horsepower turbocharged 2.4-liter that gets 18 mpg city, 24 mpg highway.

Chrysler is producing only 1,750 units of this bad boy for the 2009 model year, so get 'em while they're still in production. Pricing for this dreamy PT starts at $22,700, including a $670 destination charge.

We were hoping Chrysler would deliver a special Challenger for this year's Dream Cruise, oh well, maybe next year. But you never know, maybe Chrysler already has plans for a Farewell Edition Dream Cruiser.
