What, me worry? GM announces pricing for new H3T pickup

Pickup truck sales may be in decline and the Hummer brand on its way to being sold or put down, but GM has still invested heavily in its new H3-based pickup, the H3T, and is hoping it makes a splash when it reaches showrooms this fall. Well-reviewed as a supremely capable off-road hauler, it turns out the H3T will be something of a bargain, too -- GM announced pricing for its new pickup today, and it starts at a reasonable $31,495.

Based on an entirely new platform with a 22.3-inch longer wheelbase than its SUV counterpart, unlike the H2 SUT, the H3T is a real midsize pickup, complete with crew cab, five-foot-long bed, standard bedliner with integrated storage bins, and bed rail system. Powered by either the standard 3.7-liter inline-five or 5.3-liter V-8 from the H3 Alpha, being a Hummer the H3T is also supremely capable off-road, with standard full-time four-wheel drive and 32-inch tires (33s are optional), optional front and rear locking differentials, terrific approach and departure angles, and functional skid shields. And if that's not enough, Hummer also offers a host of accessories to make traversing Death Valley a breeze.

On sale this September, GM hopes the H3T will attract buyers with its relatively low MSRP and five-year, 100,000-mile warranty. So if you're the type who laughs at $4.10 a gallon gas and needs a go-anywhere four-door pickup, head down to your local Hummer dealer this fall and check out the H3T. Just don't wait too long, there's no telling how long the brand will still be around.
