At 15,000 miles, the Q7 received its second scheduled service, a no-cost oil change, tire rotation, and full inspection. Some 3000 miles later, the Q's power rear hatch suffered from a gremlin that prevented the lid from fully closing, so we paid another visit to the dealer, which revealed that the connection to the hatch motor was crimped and no good. The service technician, who installed a new connection under warranty, says this is a problem common among Qs. Back in action, the Q impressed Truck Trend art director Thomas Voehringer with its "effortless passing and cheetahlike moves," but disappointed with its third-row seats, which, in addition to providing only a "30-minute maximum ride for adults," require one "to push and hold the release button down, against the direction of travel, while pulling up in order to unlock the seats-it's more difficult than it sounds and is completely antithetical to user convenience."
