Positive declarations are filling the logbook about our A3's Direct Shift gearbox: "The DSG is as close to perfect as a sequential manual gets. Downshifts are so smooth and seamless you sometimes don't know they're happening, except for the hyper-quick tach-needle movement. The best part is that there's no upsetting of the chassis when downshifting for a fast, tight curve. Hit the paddle twice and you go from fourth to second, and the chassis stays perfectly settled.
