A special-edition SUV build in conjunction with a gun manufacturer? No, this isn't an outfitting company from Texas sprucing up Ford Expeditions. It's British gunsmith Holland & Holland teaming up with Land Rover customizer Overfinch for a special Range Rover.
"Holland & Holland is globally synonymous with both luxury and supreme functionality," said Daryl Greatrex, managing director of Holland & Holland. "To look at, to handle and shoot with a Holland & Holland is to appreciate 174 years of using the best craftsmanship and technology to make things work supremely well and look even better. It's ten years since we had a Holland & Holland Range Rover and we decided that working with Overfinch was the only way to do it this time. Over the years it has become clear that what AMG is to Mercedes and Alpina is to BMW, so Overfinch is to Range Rover."
Promises of extreme luxury aside, Holland & Holland and Overfinch are being very quiet about the vehicle itself. All they'll say right now is that there will both interior and exterior upgrades that will transform a standard 5.0L Supercharged Range Rover or a turbodiesel Range Rover into "an all purpose, all season, luxury supercar for the discerning few." From what we can see in the renderings and sketches, enhancements will include pull-out drawers in the rear cargo area as well as a parcel shelf and a wine/champagne chiller on the floor between the rear seats. Only 100 examples will be built and you can bet that if you have to ask what they'll cost, you needn't bother. The Holland & Holland Range Rover by Overfinch will debut on September 23 at Holland & Holland's shooting grounds in England.
