GM's production site for the Hummer H3 and H3T will be closed by 2012, despite the sale of the Hummer brand to China's Sichuan Tengzhong. The Shreveport, Louisiana plant appeared to be safe from closure when Tengzhong stepped in to purchase the facility with a long-term agreement, but according to a recent court filing, GM is planning on turning the lights off anyway. The agreement called for GM to continue providing contract assembly services and supply components and materials when Hummer is officially owned by the Chinese heavy-equipment company. In addition to producing the H3 and H3T, the Shreveport plant also manufactures the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks.
