The annual Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port is set to commence this weekend, and to lend its support, Audi will be supplying a fleet of Q7 TDI SUVs to work in the event. These SUVs will make up more than 60% of the event's fleet, and will demonstrate the cleanliness and efficiency of diesel technology while reducing the event's carbon footprint.
The event is an annual charity bicycle tour benefitting the non-profit organization Best Buddies, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. The 100-mile ride begins at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston and ends at Craigville Beach in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. Cyclists not participating in the 100-mile ride may partake in a shorter 20-mile ride that starts in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Non-cyclists can join Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis in the 5K run and 3K walk. Waiting at the finish line will be a New England-style clambake and concert by the Bangles. While last year's event raised more than $3 million, this year's event is expected to overtake the mark.
Lending star power to the event is New England Patriots quarterback and Honorary Chairman Tom Brady, chef and TV star Duff Goldman, the aforementioned Olympic gold-medalist Carl Lewis, and actor Verne Troyer, amongst others.
