A decision on Hummer's fate has been delayed by GM officials "a few weeks" according to newly appointed CEO Fritz Henderson. The SUV brand's future was to be outlined by today as per former head Rick Wagoner's order.
Troy Clarke, GM's president of North America, mentioned to dealers during a conference call that there are several 'really interested' parties looking to snatch up the brand best known for its lane-filling, extra-large off-roaders.
"We have been in dialogue with several interested parties," Henderson stated to reporters. "I set a goal for myself to try to have a decision on it by March 31; we won't have that today. We are still in talks and will likely know if we have a buyer or not in a few weeks.''
Hummer went on sale last summer and is a key part of GM's reorganization plan to get rid of weak selling divisions.
Last we heard, talks indicated original Hummer owner AM General was interested in buying back the automaker in conjunction with China's Hunan Chengfeng Motor Company.
