Honda Continues to Trim Production: Ridgeline, Element, Pilot and CR-V Plants Effected

Honda Motor Co. announced today it will cut an additional 50,000 units from its fiscal year production plan, lowering the grand total for 2009 North American output to 1.24 million units. This revised amount is 12% less than the year prior and nearly 14% lower than what Honda executives originally predicted (1.468 million units) for North America.

Three of its North American plants will share the production cut load. Plants in East Liberty, Ohio (14,000 units shed) plant produces the Element and CR-V; Lincoln, Alabama (6,000) plant produces the Odyssey and Pilot; and the Ontario, Canada plant (9,000) produces the Ridgeline and Acura MDX vehicle lines are scheduled for stoppages.

Fortunately, no job cuts are planned by the Tokyo, Japan based automaker at present.
